Position Details:

Hartford HealthCare St. Vincent's Medical Center is seeking an experienced APP to join their Surgical Subspecialty team. Responsibilities include daily rounding on admitted surgery patients, bedside procedures, consults and first assisting in the OR. APPs will work in collaboration with a number of surgeons covering subspecialty services including colorectal, plastics, surgical oncology, bariatrics, urology, vascular and breast surgery. Our surgery team consists of several APPs who work in collaboration with a variety of surgeons including trauma, general and subspecialty surgeons. Hartford HealthCare St. Vincent's Medical Center has a strong APP presence and encourages growth and development of our APPs.

Setting: Inpatient, surgery, subspecialties

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours) Monday-Friday - No weekends

Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants Role Scope:

Under established guidelines and in collaboration and/or supervision with the practice physician(s), Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants perform routine physical examinations, and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, eg, referral to other health team members or specialists.

Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider's practice as designated by protocols and identifies problems outside of their scope of practice and refers appropriately to physician.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensure : Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Training : Physician Assistant

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience : At least one year of experience with surgical patients. First-assist OR experience preferred. Robotic training is a plus.
